Around 1,800 suppliers from 56 countries – 65 percent from abroad – 143,000 square metres gross exhibition space in Halls 2, 3, 4, 10 and 11 – Specialist supporting programme and comprehensive services offer visitors extensive value-added

>From 22nd to 26th March 2011, the IDS, International Dental Show, will be held once again in Cologne. The world's largest trade fair for dental medicine and dental technology is expected to attract around 1,800 suppliers from 56 countries, who will be presenting a broad range of product innovations and services. In addition to halls 3, 4, 10 and 11, for the first time hall 2 will also be occupied and, as a result, gross exhibition space of 143,000 m². This means that all the occupied exhibition halls smoothly adjoin one another and are accessible over the shortest distance via the South, East and West entrances open for IDS 2011 ensuring that the influx of visitors is distributed as evenly as possible. The GFDI –- Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Dental-Industrie mbH, the commercial enterprise of the Association of German Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), together with Koelnmesse, have issued a joint statement: “Due to the excellent response on the exhibitors’ side, we expect that we will also be able to build on the success of the previous event in terms of visitors, when more than 100,000 came to Cologne. As a result, the IDS will impressively confirm its position as the world’s leading fair for the dental industry not only in terms of exhibitor figures, occupied space and internationality, but also with regard to visitor numbers.”

This is because the IDS is the undisputed central meeting place for the global dental market. 65 percent of the exhibiting companies come from abroad. After Germany the largest participating contingents are provided among others by Italy, the USA, the Republic of Korea and Switzerland. In addition, in 2011 there are a growing number of group participations from abroad, which are being staged in cooperation with state or private-enterprise export promotion organizations or associations. In this connection, 14 group participations are currently registered – from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Japan, Israel, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and the USA. The attractiveness of the IDS as the leading global business and contact platform for the dental industry is not least also underlined by the participation of 185 first-time exhibitors. In this connection, the broadly structured and world-encompassing product ranges ensure that the visitors can obtain a comprehensive overview of innovations and the latest trends in the global dental industry.

Specialist supporting programme with value added
But it is not only the exhibitors’ stands where exciting highlights can be expected. The specialist support programme also offers the IDS visitors valuable information. Due to the great interest of previous years, the Speaker’s Corner has now become a firmly established fixture in the IDS programme. In Hall 3.1, in the immediate vicinity of the South entrance, IDS exhibitors will be presenting new product information, services and process technology on each day of the fair, while speakers report on the latest results from science and research. In addition, the tried-and-tested arrangement whereby the first day of the fair, 22nd March 2011, is reserved for the specialist trade and importers, is being retained. This Dealer’s Day thus provides the opportunity to conduct undisturbed, intensive sales negotiations in the corresponding atmosphere.

In addition, the German Dental Association (Bundeszahnärztekammer - BZÄK) and the Association of German Dental Technicians’ Guilds (Verband der Deutschen Zahntechniker-Innungen - VDZI) are rounding off the range at IDS with further specialist
highlights. In this connection, with its 6th dentechnica Forum, the VDZI is once again making an important contribution for companies in the dental technicians trade. Here the focus is on dentistry-related themes. On top of this, on 24th March, the much sought-after gold, silver and bronze medals along with the certificates from the 13th Gysi Prize competition will be presented to the winners in an official ceremony. The renowned up-and-coming talent competition organized by the VDZI honours the best dentistry works submitted by the trainees in the dental technicians trade. The works are on display during the entire fair on the distribution level between Halls 10 and 11. Not least the VDZI will also be on hand on its fair stand in Hall 11.2 to provide information and answer questions on business management, dentists’ fees and matters of professional interest.

In 2011 the German Dental Association (Bundeszahnärztekammer) along with the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (Kassenzahnärztliche Bundesvereinigung), the German Society for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (DGZMK  - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zahn-, Mund- und Kieferheilkunde), the Institute of German Dentists (Institut der Deutschen Zahnärzte), the German Dentists Foundation for Emergency Aid and Support (Stiftung Hilfswerk Deutscher Zahnärzte), the Association of Dental Hygiene (Verein für Zahnhygiene e.V.), the Federal Association of Dental Students in Germany (Bundesverband der Zahnmedizinstudenten in Deutschland), the Federal Association of Dental Alumni in Germany (Bundesverband der zahnmedizinischen Alumni in Deutschland) along with “Zahnärztliche Mitteilungen” dental trade magazine will all be represented at the  IDS. In addition to the presentation of current themes in experts’ panel discussions, the stand in Hall 11.2 will provide dentists with information about all the participating partner organizations and of course also give them the opportunity to meet their colleagues. Not only due to its unique exhibition range, but also thanks to this programme, IDS is once again becoming the optimum continuation training and communication platform for all the participating professional groups.

Efficient fair planning thanks to own IDS app and online services
In order to make the most effective use of your time at IDS 2011, it is recommended to already plan your visit in advance. Numerous services enable you to do all this very easily and efficiently. In this connection the IDS is for the first time offering its own app for iPhone, Backberry and other operating systems. This contains a catalogue and innovative navigation system for mobile terminal appliances and, as a result, guides the visitor purposefully through the halls and to the corresponding exhibition stands. In addition, the app provides information on the catering services and support programme at the event. The app is available to users free of charge. In this connection the visitors can access important information relating to the IDS at all times while they are on the move or in the exhibition halls. Apart from this, visitors and exhibitors can already come into direct contact with each other before IDS 2011 by using the Business-Matchmaking feature. Also in the run-up to the event, the visitors can send meeting inquiries by e-mail to exhibitors via the online appointment planner, while the online route planner prepares an individual visit plan including the optimum route through the halls. In addition, after the fair, photos of the event will for the first time not only be posted on the IDS website, but also on the “flickr” online platform under a separate IDS account.

Your travel to the event and accommodation - easy and uncomplicated
Thanks to numerous online services you can relax also while travelling to Koelnmesse’s modern exhibition centre. Travel to the events and accommodation can easily be organized in the run-up to IDS using digital instruments. Registration and ticket
sales are also very easy using the online shop. Anyone who has vouchers should redeem them for their E-Ticket in good time in the run-up to the event from the online shop, because the E-Ticket is not only the admission ticket to the IDS, it is also valid as a travel ticket for buses, trains and trams. In addition, special offers are available for travelling to Cologne, because, for the first time, the IDS is offering visitors and exhibitors a very special service: Lufthansa is the official airline for IDS 2011, offering visitors from over 250 foreign cities in 100 countries exclusive special conditions. In addition to the reduced flight tickets from Lufthansa, rail travellers can make their way to the International Dental Show using special low-price tickets from German Railways (DB - Deutsche Bahn). With Cologne/Bonn Airport, the central hub of the so-called “Low-Cost-Carriers” is also located directly on the Exhibition Centre’s doorstep. A whole series of airlines are thus offering flights within Germany and Europe at value-for-money prices and conditions. In addition, by using the www.hotelzimmerbuchung.com website, attractive hotel rooms can be booked in Cologne and the surrounding area and individual travel packages (flights, hotel, hire car) booked online via www.ids-cologne.com. Koelnmesse will also be delighted to assist you in obtaining a visa. Further information on these services is available at www.ids-cologne.com.

The IDS (International Dental Show) takes place in Cologne every two years and is organized by the GFDI - Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Dental-Industrie mbH, the commercial enterprise of the Association of German Dental Manufacturers (VDDI), and staged by Koelnmesse GmbH, Cologne.
