The German Dental Industry further Strengthens its Position on World Markets

With a total turnover of 4.01 billion euros the companies of the German dental industry achieved an increase in turnover of 6.8 percent in 2010 compared with the previous year 2009. Despite the ever-increasing competition on the international health markets there were turnovers of 2.34 billion euros (+9.6%) and 1.67 billion euros (+3.3%) in domestic revenues, reported Dr. Martin Rickert, Chairman of the VDDI (Association of German Dental Manufacturers), at the presentation of the annual report 2010/2011 at the annual general meeting of the association in Cologne, Germany.

Based on this, 65 percent of the VDDI members assess domestic business performance in 2010 as good. They were able to record increases in turnover. Expectations in the current financial year are also similarly positive, as 62 percent of the member companies anticipate increased turnovers in Germany. International business remains a stable anchor of growth With an export quota on this occasion of approximately 55 percent, the German dental industry was able to stabilise its market position on the world markets and even significantly expand in some markets. With regard to export business performance in 2010, 46 percent of those questioned reported increased turnovers, 40 percent of the companies reported sales results at the level of the previous year and only 14 percent recorded a downturn.
